I can't find my friend nearby
Both of you need Pocket Crosses open on Find Nearby Players. Join the same Wi-Fi, or just sit close together. Check that Local Network access is turned on for the app on both devices.
I said no to Local Network access
On iPhone, iPhone Duo or iPad, open Settings, then Pocket Crosses, and turn on Local Network. On Mac, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Local Network, and turn on Pocket Crosses.
Do I need the internet?
No. Playing the computer and two players on one device work anywhere. Nearby play only talks to the other device. It never goes through a server.
How do the four boards work?
3x3: three in a row. 5x5: four in a row. Vanish: only your last three marks stay, and your oldest goes when you play a fourth. Ultimate: win three small boards in a row. The square you pick sends your opponent to that small board.
Will my stats move to a new device?
No. Stats and settings are saved on the device you play on. There's no account, so nothing syncs.
What do I need to run it?
iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later.
